About Susan

A little perspective goes a long way.

I’ve spent more than 35 years working in media, advertising and marketing, helping businesses connect with the people they want to reach. Along the way, I’ve learned that good marketing rarely comes down to doing more. It comes down to understanding what you’re trying to achieve, recognizing the opportunities around you and making better decisions about what deserves your time and attention.

How I Got Here

My career started in radio, where I spent decades working both on-air and behind the scenes. That gave me a front-row seat to how businesses market themselves, what makes an advertising idea work, and what happens when a good opportunity isn’t supported by a good plan.

Over the years, I worked with local businesses, community organizations, advertising clients and promotional partners. I saw first-hand that the strongest marketing often came from businesses that understood their community, paid attention to what was happening around them and knew how to recognize an opportunity that genuinely fit.

That experience also showed me how overwhelming marketing can become, especially when you’re running the business at the same time. There is always another platform, promotion, trend or opportunity competing for attention. Knowing what you can comfortably leave alone can be just as valuable as knowing what to pursue.

That’s really where the idea of becoming a Marketing Advisor came from. I wanted to offer businesses something different: not another person selling them a particular tactic or platform, but someone who could look at the bigger picture, help them sort through the options and make practical marketing decisions with confidence.

What I Believe About Marketing

Good marketing isn’t about doing more marketing.
It’s about making better marketing decisions.

There will always be another platform to try, trend to follow or opportunity to consider. That doesn’t mean your business needs to participate in all of them. The important part is understanding what you’re trying to achieve, who you’re trying to reach and whether an opportunity actually helps you get there.

I also believe some of the best opportunities come from paying attention to what’s happening around you. Your community, your customers, the seasons, local events and even the things people are simply talking about can all create natural reasons to connect. The key is choosing the ones that make sense for your business and showing up in a way that feels authentic.

My job isn’t to convince you to do more. It’s to help you understand your options, recognize the opportunities worth considering and feel confident saying yes when something makes sense, or no when it doesn’t.

A Little More About Me

I’m a big believer that business relationships work better when you actually know the people you’re working with. I’m practical, curious and naturally interested in what makes businesses and communities tick. I like asking questions, finding connections and helping turn a jumble of ideas into something that feels manageable.

After spending so many years in local radio, I’ve also seen how powerful it can be when a business becomes a familiar part of its community. People remember the businesses they see participating, supporting local events, building relationships and simply being present. That kind of connection can’t be manufactured overnight, but it can absolutely be part of a thoughtful marketing plan.
